Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Altera Diagnostics (“Altera,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit aletradiagnostics.com (the “Website”) or interact with us through our contact, order, or newsletter forms. Our Website is intended for licensed healthcare professionals and authorized purchasing agents in the United States.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Identifiers — name, business email, phone number, practice or facility name
  • Commercial information — order requests, product interest, purchase history with Altera
  • Internet or network activity — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, referring URL, pages viewed, session duration
  • Geolocation — coarse, IP-derived location (city/region level)
  • Professional information — credential type, specialty, and facility role you voluntarily provide
  • Inferences — drawn from the above to understand product interest and improve content

We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, precise geolocation, biometric data, or Sensitive Personal Information as defined under the CPRA.

2. Sources & Purposes

We collect information directly from you (forms, email, phone), automatically through your browser and our analytics providers, and occasionally from service providers who help us operate the Website. We use it to:

  • Respond to inquiries and process order requests
  • Deliver clinical, product, and billing support
  • Send product updates, clinical literature, and educational materials you request
  • Measure Website performance, diagnose errors, and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and recordkeeping obligations

3. Health Information & HIPAA

Altera Diagnostics is a distributor of in vitro diagnostic devices. We are nota “covered entity” or “business associate” as those terms are defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). We do not collect, receive, or process Protected Health Information (PHI) or patient test results through this Website. FebriDx test results and patient data are managed solely by your healthcare facility. Purchasers are responsible for their own HIPAA, CLIA, and state-law compliance.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use three categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary — required for core functionality (form submission, security). Cannot be disabled.
  • Performance & analytics — aggregated usage statistics from providers such as Google Analytics. You may opt out via your browser settings or the provider’s opt-out tools.
  • Functional — remember preferences (e.g., region). Set only with consent where required.

We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising or targeted marketing.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share limited information with:

  • Manufacturer & supply chain partners — to fulfill order requests and provide product support
  • Service providers — hosting, analytics, email delivery, and CRM platforms, under written confidentiality and data-protection agreements
  • Professional advisors — attorneys, auditors, and insurers where necessary
  • Legal authorities — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, safety, or property
  • Successors — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

Use of third-party analytics may qualify as “sharing” under the CCPA. You may opt out as described in Section 8 or by enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Contact and inquiry records — up to 3 years after last interaction
  • Order and transaction records — 7 years to meet tax, regulatory, and warranty obligations
  • Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe, plus a brief suppression-list period
  • Analytics and server logs — 14 months (Google Analytics default) or less

7. Data Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including TLS/HTTPS for data in transit, access controls, and vendor due diligence. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected individuals and regulators in accordance with applicable state breach-notification laws if a qualifying breach occurs.

8. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have the following rights, subject to verification and legal exceptions:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it
  • Right to access a copy of your personal information
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Right to delete personal information we hold about you
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
  • Right to limit use of Sensitive Personal Information (we do not collect SPI)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
  • Right to appeal denial of a rights request (where provided by state law)

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@aletradiagnostics.com or use our contact form. We will verify your identity using information already on file and respond within the timeframe required by your state’s law (typically 45 days). An authorized agent may submit a request with your written permission and proof of authority.

9. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and other states where GPC is required. When our Website detects a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out for that browser session.

10. Children’s Privacy

This Website is directed to healthcare professionals and business users age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the Website is not intended for use by minors.

11. International Users

Altera Diagnostics markets and sells within the United States and does not target individuals in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland. If you access this Website from outside the U.S., you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws. Information we collect is stored and processed in the United States.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or our practices. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date, and where required by law we will provide additional notice. Continued use of the Website after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
